Nurturing Young Minds

Empowering Young Minds at Urja Gurukul

At Urja Gurukul, we create a space where children can grow with confidence, think critically, and make thoughtful choices. We support each child’s natural curiosity and creativity, helping them discover who they are while caring for their emotional, social, and mental well-being. Our school is built on trust, openness, and a strong sense of belonging for everyone.

Freedom of Expression

We believe that every child’s voice matters. At our school, students are encouraged to express their thoughts, feelings, and ideas with confidence. Whether it's sharing a new idea, asking a question, or expressing a concern, children are always welcome to speak directly with any teacher, the Director, or the Principal. We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where trust, respect, and open communication are at the heart of everything we do.

Supportive, Non-Competitive Learning Environment

Every child learns best when they feel safe, supported, and valued. Hence, we do not have competitions or academic rankings. Instead, students are encouraged to explore what they enjoy, grow at their own pace, and focus on their progress and not compare with others. This helps them build real confidence, self-motivation, and a lifelong love of learning, all without the pressure.

A School That Loves to Read

Books are a big part of our school life, and we encourage everyone to enjoy them. Each month, students who read the most books are recognized and awarded with the Reading Horse Award—a unique way to inspire young readers. Our lively library is a popular spot, with most students regularly borrowing books. And every Saturday, the whole school takes a peaceful break for DEAR Time (Drop Everything and Read), creating a shared moment of quiet reflection and the joy of getting lost in a book.

Sun Star Award – Encouraging Dedication and Regular Presence

We love to celebrate commitment! Every month, students and staff with 100% attendance receive the Sun Star Award as a way to recognize their consistency. This not only builds a sense of responsibility but also encourages students to be present every day, so they don’t miss out on classroom activities. Regular attendance helps them stay connected to their lessons, making it easier and more enjoyable to understand and keep up with their subjects.

A Leave Policy Built on Trust

At our school, we believe in trusting our students and staff. When someone needs to take a day off, we do not ask for medical certificates. Instead, we respect their honesty and understand that everyone needs time to rest, recover, or handle personal matters. It's our way of showing care and building a culture of mutual.

Every Child Shines on Stage

Every student gets a chance to be in the spotlight at our school. During the Annual Day, all children take part in a performance—whether it’s dance, drama, or music—giving everyone an equal opportunity to express themselves. These performances take place in our beautiful auditorium, RangBhavan, where students also enjoy inspiring live theatre shows like Totto-Chan and Eidgah. It’s a joyful way to build confidence and a deep appreciation for the arts.

Freedom in Grooming

Students can wear any comfortable shoes of their choice. While we encourage cleanliness, it is not strictly enforced. Hair and Nails: The school believes that hairstyles or nail length do not affect learning. Therefore, there are no strict rules about them. We trust students to manage their grooming responsibly, while keeping others' safety in mind, especially during playtime.

Flexible Uniform Policy

Students should have the freedom to choose what they are comfortable wearing. So, they can select their own uniform style: Girls can wear either skirts or full pants. Boys can wear either half pants or full pants.

Fun and Teamwork Every Friday

Fridays are all about fun, learning and connection at our school! Students and teachers come together to play physical games as a class, creating a joyful break from regular routine. These weekly sessions help build team spirit, improve coordination, and bring everyone closer through laughter and shared experiences. Language teachers conduct word games, puzzles and fun activities that strengthen vocabulary, thinking skills and confidence in communication – making Fridays both exciting and meaningful.
